Student finds tracking device on his car; FBI demands it back

Slow day on the creativity front, so thought I would share this with yall. Funny article, I would have kept it myself.

A Silicon Valley college student says the FBI confronted him and threatened to "make things difficult" for him if he didn't hand over a GPS tracking device he found on his car, says a report at Wired.com.

Yasir Afifi, a 20-year-old marketing student at Mission College who is partially of Egyptian extraction, said he found the device last Sunday when he took his car to a mechanic, and saw wires sticking out of the underside, near the exhaust pipe.

He told Wired he had "done nothing to merit attention from authorities."

A friend of Afifi's, identified only as Khaled, posted pictures of the device to Reddit.com, where a user quickly identified it as a Guardian ST820 tracking unit, manufactured by Cobham, which, according to Wired, only sells the device to law enforcement agencies.

As Afifi and Khaled pondered a number of plans for the device -- including selling it on Cragslist or attaching it to another car -- the FBI showed up, admitted it had planted the device, and demanded it back, Afifi told Wired.

National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month

As usual, our always concerned government has declared this month "National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month" due to the rise of young people packing on the extra lbs.
This got me thinking. I have heard some talk of blaming video games, fast food advertising, sugar filled snacks, soda, school cafeteria food, etc. I would never argue that these things do not contribute to little Johnny being over weight. My point is very simple. Little Johnny has these two things called a mom and dad and although not all little Johnny's have both; one of them is more than capable of turning the damn TV off and telling him to go outside and ride his bike, climb a tree or play some sports. You see I was raised on soda, Twinkies, Ho Hos, Coco Pebbles and the occasional fast food meal. You know how I burned off all the sugar and calories? By running, playing sports or riding my bike and not sitting on my ass playing Nintendo or PlayStation. It's not rocket science people.

Just Another Car Accessories Tool In L.A.

This type of photo was one of the keys to me starting this little website. I do a lot of driving in the L.A. area and come across all sorts of tools with their 20" $5,000 rims on a $5,000 Honda, sticker flames on their mini-vans, excessive chrome everywhere and anywhere, "booming" sound systems that make your car rattle just being next to them at a stop light, raised trucks (for looking cool only of course) that can't go off-road because the axle will snap in two if they tried and of course the weaving in and out of traffic guy who only gets two or three cars ahead of you while almost causing several accidents.
